Either/Or is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Elliott Smith. It was released on CD and vinyl on February 25, 1997, through record label Kill Rock Stars.
The title derives from the Søren Kierkegaard book of the same name, reflecting Smith's interest in philosophy, which he studied at Hampshire College in Massachusetts.
Online magazine Pitchfork ranked Either/Or at number 59 on their list of the one-hundred greatest albums of the 1990s. Spin magazine ranked Either/Or at number 48 on their list of the best albums from 1985 to 2012. The album placed at number 20 on the 1997 "Pazz and Jop" poll. Blender ranked it number 36 on their "Best Indie Albums Ever" list.
