Priyanka Chopra born 18 July 1982 is an Indian film actress, singer and songwriter. She was crowned Miss India 2000 and, later that year, Miss World before beginning her acting career. Chopra has received a number of awards for her performances, including a National Film Award and Filmfare Awards in four categories, and has established herself as a leading contemporary actress in Hindi cinema. Chopra made her acting debut in 2002 in the Tamil film, Thamizhan. The following year she starred in The Hero, her first Bollywood release, and followed it with the box-office hit Andaaz. She earned critical acclaim for her portrayal of a seductress in the 2004 thriller Aitraaz, and subsequently played the lead female role in several commercially-successful films. Her portrayal of a troubled model in the 2008 drama Fashion earned her wide critical acclaim, and won her the National and Filmfare Awards for Best Actress.
