Dark Before Dawn is the upcoming fifth studio album by the American rock band Breaking Benjamin, it will be the band's first album since 2009's Dear Agony and the first since their reformation from hiatus in 2014. The album's first single titled "Failure" was released on March 23, 2015. The album is slated to be released June 23, 2015.
In mid-2010, Breaking Benjamin entered a hiatus while frontman Ben Burnley dealt with his health issues related to alcoholism. A year later, during this downtime, the rest of the band released a remixed version of "Blow Me Away", featuring guest vocals by Valora, was released in promotion of a greatest hits album, Shallow Bay: The Best of Breaking Benjamin. Burnley publicly opposed the release, saying content had been altered and released without his consent, and that it did not meet his standards. Burnley later fired bandmates Aaron Fink and Mark Klepaski over the release of the remixed "Blow Me Away", and then took them to court, stating Fink and Klepaski made unilateral and unauthorized decisions on behalf of the band. In April 2013, Burnley announced that the legal issues had finally ended, and he had won the rights to the name of the band. Shortly after, remaining member of the band Chad Szeliga announced that he was leaving the band due to creative differences.
On August 19, 2014, Burnley announced that they had reformed. The band re-emerged as a quintet, consisting of Burnley and four new members. New members include guitarist Jasen Rauch, previously of the band Red, who had previously collaborated with the band off of four tracks on Dear Agony, guitarist Keith Wallen, previously of Adelitas Way, bassist Aaron Bruch (of OurAfter and Forever Oeuvre), who played a couple of acoustics shows with Burnley in 2010 and 2013, and drummer Shaun Foist, previously of the band Picture Me Broken.
On September 13, 2014, the band members uploaded new photos of the band working in the studio. In October, Foist revealed that the band was currently writing new songs for the album.
