Flatbush Zombies is an American hip hop group from Flatbush, Brooklyn, formed in 2010. The group is composed of rappers Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice and Erick "Arc" Elliott, the latter of whom also serves as their regular producer. They are part of a East Coast hip hop movement known as "Beast Coast", that was spearheaded by fellow Brooklyn-based rapper Joey Bada$$ and his respective hip hop group Pro Era.
According to Elliott, the group came together musically around 2010. Their first club performance took place in 2012 at the Southpaw in Brooklyn. The group's popularity grew after releasing the "Thug Waffle" video on YouTube. Later in the year, Flatbush Zombies released a mixtape titled D.R.U.G.S., which stands for "Death and Reincarnation Under God's Supervision".
In 2013, the group collaborated with fellow Brooklyn rappers The Underachievers on the single "No Religion". Flatbush Zombies also released the video for "MRAZ", a track off the group's mixtape BetterOffDEAD.
Flatbush Zombies have collaborated with artists such as The Underachievers, Joey Bada$$, ASAP Rocky, ASAP Ant, RZA, Jim Jones, Juicy J, Danny Brown, Joell Ortiz, Kilo Kish, Action Bronson and Mr. MFN eXquire. They've performed at festivals such as AfroPunk Festival, Paid Dues, North Coast Music Festival, SXSW and Roskilde.
On July 29th 2013 the Flatbush Zombies released a YouTube video announcing their sophomore mixtape, "BetterOffDEAD" which released at 9:11 p.m. on September 11th, 2013.
Along with "MRAZ," the singles "Palm Trees" and "222" are included in the nineteen track mixtape "BetterOffDEAD." Though Elliott is the main producer, Harry Fraud and Obey City are also featured. Danny Brown and Action Bronson appear on the tracks "Drug Parade" and "Club Soda" respectively.
