Performer Kat Graham (Katerina Alexandre Graham) was born in Geneva, Switzerland, but raised in Los Angeles, California. As a youngster, she entered the entertainment industry -- the same field in which her father worked as a music executive -- through television commercials. While she was a teenager, she worked as a background dancer for the likes of Missy Elliott and Jamie Foxx prior to appearing in videos for Akon, Justin Bieber, and several others. She resumed acting and graduated to small, occasionally recurring roles on a number of television series. Her music career reached liftoff in 2007, when she was featured as a guest vocalist on "I Got It from My Mama," a playful Top 40 single by the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am. Although she subsequently toured as an opening act for the Black Eyed Peas, she didn't abandon acting; in 2009, she scored her most lasting role as teenage witch Bonnie Bennett on CW's The Vampire Diaries, for which she also recorded a faithful cover of Garbage's "Only Happy When It Rains." A couple singles failed to catch fire, but she signed to A&M/Octone and, in March 2012, released the aggressive dance-pop single "Put Your Graffiti on Me," a number 12 Billboard club chart hit included on the four-track Against the Wall EP, issued two months later.
