Laura Ashby is 26 years old and was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. As a child she regularly visited London with her family to watch West End musicals. The confidence and skill of the performers captivated her and made her want to sing and perform herself. As she grew up, Laura started to sing at school, joining musical productions and dancing groups, developing her confidence to get up and perform in front of theatre audiences. At 10 she played the lead in a school musical, called Rats, which was performed at Sheffield’s Merlin Theatre.
