tyDi (born Tyson Illingworth) is an International Dance Music Award (IDMA) award winning Australian song writer, music producer and DJ. Born and raised on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, tyDi was discovered as an artist in his mid-teens. After a rapid rise in the dance music world he was signed to Armin Van Buuren’s Armada label at just 17, he was crowned Australia’s No.1 DJ for the first time in 2008 – the youngest ever winner of this award. He went back-to-back with the title in 2009.
After graduating from high school tyDi studied at the prestigious Conservatorium of Music where he graduated with a Bachelor of Music Technology. In 2009 he released his eagerly anticipated debut album, Look Closer, which reached #2 on the Australian Dance charts. A year later he won ‘Best Break-Through DJ’ at the 2010 International Dance Music Awards in Miami, awarded personally by none other than dance heavyweight Tiesto.
After two years of travelling the world and developing his sound, tyDi released his second album 'Shooting Stars' in 2011, a production that crossed genres, featured numerous collaborations and reached No.1 on the Australian, Canadian, Finish and UK iTunes Dance Charts as well as No.4 in the USA. For the past four years straight tyDi has been ranked well inside the top 100 DJs in the annual DJ Mag Top 100 poll.
In October 2012 tyDi signed a worldwide publishing deal with Rondor/Universal Music and signed his first major label record deal with Universal Republic Records in April 2013. His next album, a chillout album called Hotel Rooms is due for release in November 2013, with the eagerly anticipated follow up to Shooting Stars set for release in early 2014.
