There are 2 bands called Neos: 1) a Canadian hardcore punk band and 2) an Italian jazz band 1) The Neos formed in 1980 in Victoria, B.C., an hour and a half ferry ride outside of Vancouver. Although they gigged infrequently, they still managed to open for well known hardcore punk bands of the day like the Subhumans, Black Flag and Dead Kennedys. They released two 7"s, both in 1982, on their label Alandhiscar - the 11 song "End All Discrimination" and the 14 song "Hassibah Gets The Martian Brain Squeeze." Ratcage Records out of New York City repressed the second 7" following year. When the Neos disbanded at the end of 1983, Steve and Kev continued on for another year as Harvest of Seaweed (a "recording group" only). After this, Kev started Sludge Confrontations with John from the legendary Victoria hardcore band Jerk Ward. Neos members eventually went on to play in Mexican Power Authority and the Showbiz Giants. Despite being fairly obscure, they still remain very influential, even having their songs covered by Charles Bronson and NOFX. 2) Neos was born in 1995 by the casual meeting between DJ Bruno Bolla and the saxophonist Gianni Bedori during a series of transmissions about jazz on Rai Stero 2. A friendship and an idea come to be: to create a group uniting their own experiences with those of Gerardo Frisina, passionate and qualified jazz expert and Luigi Bonafede refined pianist and session-man. This also marks the start of the extremely fruitful collaboration between Schema and Gerardo Frisina. Luigi conveyed indications for the choice of the other elements of the "Combo". The collaboration features in fact two young musicians from Turin, Aldo Mella playing bass, and Enzo Zinnisi on drums, the Brazilian percussionist Gilson Silveira and the vocalists Barbara Casini and Rhonda Moore. The point was to create and propose a sound that was inspired by jazz, though at the same time allow to express the artists' individuality, and as a group. In "Indefinita Atmosfera" there is a philosophy, exploration of the musical planet in all its tones touching the four cardinal points: North; East; West(Ovest) and South, sailing between melodies and rhythms.
